Visitors turn to legendary manager in time for Saturday visit

HUNGERFORD TOWN face Histon at Bulpit Lane just three days after the Cambridgeshire club brought back Steve Fallon as manager.

Fallon bossed the club for a decade, taking them through the ranks and into Conference football, where they nearly won promotion to the Football League in 2009 and beat Leeds United in the FA Cup.

Fallon, now 59, takes charge for the first time on Saturday and his Hungerford rival Bobby Wilkinson said: “We always seem to come up against teams who chang their manager and the players are keen to impress.

“This won’t be an easy game.”

Wilkinson has a near full strength squad available to him with defender Jon Boardman the one concern after he was forced off early during Monday’s 3-1 home win over Chesham United that took Hungerford back into sixth place in the table.

“We haven’t been playing the best football lately,” said Wilkinson, “but we’re still grinding out some results and we we are actually in the best position we have been at this stage of the season.”

Youth Cup tie to be replayed

HUNGERFORD'S youth side will replay their FA Trophy tie at Forest Green Rovers next week on a date to be confirmed.

Tuesday night’s Third Qualifying Round tie was abandoned six minutes from time with Hungerford a goal-up after an injury to Green’s Jack Holmes, who sustained three cracked vertebrae.

The winners of the replayed game will go to Yeovil Town in the First Round Proper on Tuesday, November 3.
