Hungerford face top two challenge after win at Hereford

Edgar Street is a far less troublesome obstacle than in the club’s giant-killing cup and second-flight league days and Hungerford should have won by a greater margin.
They had a goal in the bank inside two minutes when Jon Boardman headed home but wasted several openings and had to be grateful to goalkeeper Paul Strudley and Sam Akinde’s poor finishing in a spell before the interval.
But the second half was a one-sided affair, despite Hereford’s spirited showing, and James Pilling hammeerd home a free kick after Hereford had Sam Bobs-Gilroy sent off for lashing out at Josh Parsons.
Hungerford could move into second place in the Premier Division table if they beat Tuesday night’s visitors Dunstable Town, who have a three-point and four goal advantage over a Hungerford side defending its unbeaten home record.
