EVO STIK LEAGUE: Local rivals remain unbeaten after single goal wins on Saturday

HUNGERFORD maintained their 100 per cent in points and clean sheets as they top the Evo Stik Southern League's Division One South and West table following Saturday's 1-0 win at Didcot Town.

A goal 13 minutes from time completed a second successive derby away win to leave Hungerford and Mangotsfield as the division's surviving clubs with perfect returns to far.

Didcot made Hungerford work for the points. Dave Asker, Jamie Gosling and Pete Macklin had early chances but Michael Watkins had to save well from Phillip John, who also wasted a good opening after the break before Hungerford scored the decisive goal.

MATT PEDDAR'S goal at the start of the second period got Thatcham off the mark in their second successive home game with a 1-0 defeat of Yate Town at Waterside Park.

Both sides had their chances in the first period with ex-Reading forward Michael Meaker going close for the visitors and Ed Vahid also heading over the top.

Sean Cook had an effort ruled out for offside but a minute after the re-start, Thatcham went ahead when Robbie Sadler found Cook, who nodded the ball forward for Peddar to drive on and beat goalkeeper Josh Dempsey.

Callum Willmoth went closest to a second while Thatcham's back line again proved to be the stumbling block for the visitors as it kept a second successive clean sheet.

Thatcham make the trip to newly promoted Poole Town on Tuesday night.
