Hungerford need a win

Bad month sees eight point lead wiped out to leave leaders clinging on at the top

ONLY two points now separate neighbours Hungerford and Thatcham at the top of the Evo Stik League's South and West Division as the West Berkshire rivals head west in an increasingly tight battle at the top.

Thatcham have two games in hand on the leaders, who suffered their third defeat in four games against Poole Town in midweek to leave manager Bobby Wilkinson calling for a quick return to form.

"I can't fault the players," he said. "They've given me everything.

"We've had a bad month," he added, "but we're still top of the table.

"We have to get back to winning form though, and right now."

Wilkinson has a number of players back from injury for Saturday's trip to Taunton Town with Matt Day, Matt Jack, John Boardman and Diak John all on the point of return. And he this week added to his squad with the signing of former Reading youngster Pat Cox, and the former Salisbury, Bashley and Gosport midfielder goes into the squad for the Somerset game.
