Hungerford power past Didcot

Two home wins over Christmas relieved Didcot’s relegation worries, but they proved no match for Hungerford’s fire-power on Tuesday.
Hungerford set up victory with two early goals, going onto win 6-1 at Bulpit Lane.
The home side opened the scoring after three minutes when Diak John beat his marker and crossed for Jon Boardman, who headed home.
Hungerford doubled their lead in the eleven minutes later when Ian Herring seized on a through ball and scored.
The visitor’s got themselves back in the game in the 31st minute when Pablo Haysham volleyed past Hungerford goalkeeper Jon Henly.
However The Crusaders were soon back on the attack, scoring two headed goals in the last five minutes of the first half.
First James Clark nodded from close range and then Mark Draycott scored with a looping header.
The three points were wrapped up in the second half when Draycott scored his second, then former Ireland international Alan O’Brien made it six with a solo effort.
The victory sees Hungerford maintain their place at the top of Division One South and West.
The Crusaders are five points ahead of second place Poole Town and eleven points ahead of third place Swindon Supermarine, but both sides have games in hand over the West Berkshire side.
Hungerford’s victory on Tuesday was marred by injuries to John and Jon Boardman, who both limped off.
