Danny Robinson explained how ‘proud’ he was as manager of Hungerford Town even though they suffered Emirates FA Cup exit on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders were eliminated at the fourth qualifying round stage by National League side Bromley on Saturday, in front of a crowd of 722.

Town were fortunate not to be in the hat for the first round proper, but Robinson admitted how pleased he was with his squad’s performance.

“There are two feelings,” he said. “Firstly, I felt we let them off the hook because to a man I thought we were fabulous.

“The second feeling is pride because we got further than we have done at this club in 15 years and we have put some much-needed money into the club.

“On a whole I am proud, as a clubman I am proud and as a manager I am disappointed of course, because we lost and we had a brilliant opportunity to get into the first round proper, but at the end of the day we are glorious in defeat.”

Ryan Seager gave the home side a 1-0 lead just after the half-hour mark, but goals from James Alabi and Michael Cheek handed Bromley a place in the next round.

Despite the defeat, Robinson was full of praise for his squad and how things continue to look up for the National League South outfit.

“I am very proud of this football club, for what they have done behind the scenes and I wouldn’t swap my players for the world.

“They are a special crop of players,” he added. “It is a brilliant time to be at Hungerford and part of this club because we have some big games coming up and we’re relishing the challenges ahead.”
