Irish musicians create Shane Long song

A song has been created about the Royals' top goalscorer by Willie Dunne and the Corrigan Brothers

READING Football Club's top goalscorer Shane Long is probably getting used to hearing his name chanted by fans, although having a song written about you is something else.

Irish musicians Willie Dunne and the Corrigan Brothers have done just that, producing a special composition dedicated to the 24-year-old striker, who has hit 25 goals for club and country so far this season.

Dunne, a folk singer who hails from the same village as Long in Gortnahoe, North Tipperary, has recently returned from a tour of the USA and he said: "It's an honour to record a song about an outstanding player like Shane, I'm proud that he's a fellow Gortnahoe man!"

The striker, a keen singer-songwriter himself, has struck a chord with the fans this season as his goals have galvanised the Royals' charge towards the Championship play-offs, and he will be hoping to remain on song as the season reaches its climax with the Royals pushing hard for promotion back to the Premier League.
