It's ruthless as Hungerford get off the mark

The manager was so disappointed with that showing that he hauled off midfielder James Pilling 10 minutes before the break, and Ian Herring was also taken off at the break with the manager saying: “It shows people that if I have to be ruthless, I’ll be ruthless.”
Hungerford laboured to get going in that first half when Histon’s Joe Burgess was denied on the goal-line and Matthew Kuzimski and Joe Peacock went close as Hungerford needed 43 minutes to get an effort on target via Charllie Mpi’s head.
Hungerford showed more purpose after the re-start and they notched the decisive goal after 57 minutes when Diak John found Mpi and he turned the ball through for Mark Draycott to go on and score.
It looked as if the home side might add to their tally but Histon survived and broke towards the end to pose real threats with Msateusz Kuzimski missing Harry O’Malley’s free kick right in front of goal and Ben Sawyer lashing an effort wide as Hungerford were grateful to get that first win of the campaign.
