IT’S already FA Cup time for two local clubs as they face Saturday and Sunday action in the competition’s Extra Preliminary Round this weekend.

Tadley Calleva and Thatcham Town had mixed midweek results when they were pitched into early competitive action to pave the way for the early cup start.

Last season’s Hellenic League runners-up Thatcham got off to a disappointing start when losing 1-0 at home to Ardley United.

Although Jon Bennet hit the post in the first half, they conceded the only goal in that period when Elias Katsoloudi latched onto a long clearance to score and Thatcham could not wipe out the deficit.

Tadley Calleva twice came from behind to draw 2-2 on the artificial surface at Alton Town in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League

Brett Denham twice canceleld out goals from Oli Graham and Peter Millington-Lee and skipper Scott Kinge had a penalty saved by goalkeeper Lee Allen as Tadley had to settle for a starting point.

They go into cup action at Hellenic League Premier Division Highworth Town on Sunday, and Thatcham face their fellow Hellenic Leaguers Bracknell Town at Waterside Park on Saturday. Both ties kick of at 3pm.
