Ethan’s on top form as Kuijten finishes fifth in battling Kennet showing at Oxfordshire Cross Country League
Team Kennet took 13 athletes to a mud-soaked course in Horspath for round three of the Oxfordshire Cross Country League last week.
As well as battling the freezing temperatures and quagmire-like conditions, Kennet’s athletes had to take on a highly-competitive field of 822 runners.
There were some outstanding performances by Kennet athletes in the junior races. Ethan Kuijten was a fantastic fifth in the under-15 boys race, Emerald Hill-Sawyer was a superb 12th in the under-13 girls race, Ella Parsons came home an impressive 19th in the under-11 girls race and Harry Smith achieved a battling 23rd in the under-13 boys race.
Andy Colling led the way in the senior men’s race. His 135th placed overall finish saw him win the male V60 competition. Mitch Poustie was 188th, Phil Baker was 196th, Tim Smith 264th, Simon Hockaday 286th and Simon Gale 308th.
Sue Francis produced a remarkable performance in the senior ladies race, finishing 30th overall and third in her age category. Katie Reynolds was 85th and Anna Riggall was 154th.
