Kicking off with two out of three
Thatcham score first pre-season win and Hungerford bounce back from defeat with 7-0 success
TWO out of three was the return from Hungerford and Thatcham as they got their pre-season campaigns under way at the weekend.
Hungerford had two teams in action, getting off to a losing start when going down 2-1 to Hartley Wintney at Henley on Saturday, but then beating the host club 7-0 at Henley on Sunday.
Thatcham had a comfortable 3-0 win at Hellenic League Milton United on Saturday where new signing Shane Kingston was among the scorers. The former Bridgwater Town forward was joined on the scoresheet by Marc Green and Sam Hamilton.
Hungerford were a goal down after only 25 seconds to Hartley Wintney on Saturday at Henley and conceded a second before Shaun Thorp pulled one back.
But Hungerford's second side romped home a day later against Henley. Skipper Matt Day put them ahead and Adam Wallace struck a second before new boys weighted in with five second half goals.
Ex-Didcot Town marksman Mark Draycott got off the mark with ex-Thatcham midfielders Danny Williamson and Dean Stow netting before Luke Hopper came on to score a late double.
Hungerford are back in action on Thursday evening when they have Fleet Town as visitors, while Thatcham are at Wantage Town on Friday night.
