Lambourn Cup victory for Paggies Bar

Paggies Bar completed a league and cup double after beating OLA Prestige 3-2 in the final of the Lambourn Cup on Sunday.

Paggies had already secured the Newbury Sunday League Premier Division title – and they can make it a treble if they beat Division 1 champions NWX in the final of the Knockout Cup at Lambourn FC on Sunday (10.30am).

But Paggies had to withstand a second-half fightback before they could celebrate on Sunday.

They looked to be cruising when Jack Wickens fired them ahead, then a superb Ross Lawrence goal put them 2-0 up at half-time.

It looked all over when Brad Pagliaroli added a third early in the second half.

But OLA hit back, reducing the deficit to just one goal and in the end they were unfortunate not to force extra time.

Paggies manager Willie Greenhall said: "At the start of the season we said we wanted to win the league and get to a final.

"We've done that and it would be nice to get a clean sweep."
