Late treble seals it for Hungerford
Promotion-chasers keep up with the race after downing United at Bulpit Lane
Hungerford Town 4 Abingdon Utd 0
THREE goals in the last half-an-hour gave Hungerford a six point gap over the clubs chasing them in the Evo Stik Southern's play-off zone.
Themselves five points adrift of leaders Bideford, and having played two more games, they were held well in check by lowly Abingdon for long spells before pressure eventually told.
They went ahead five minutes before the break when Luke Hopper was shoved in the box and the striker scored from the penalty spot, but Hungerford had to wait until just over the hour mark to stretch their lead when Hopper was again on target.
Substitute Mark Draycott added the third with 13 minutes to go, and Nicholas Ogbanufe wrapped it up in the closing stages.
Hungerford face cup action on Tuesday night when Burnham are the visitors in the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup quarter finals.
