Luke Humphries returns to action in Bahrain semi-final run
Newbury’s Luke Humphries reached the semi finals of the Bahrain Darts Masters last week.
The 2024 World Champion was in action for the first time since December, where he exited the World Championships against Peter Wright in the fourth round.
"It's nice to be back playing,” he said.
“Obviously I was gutted to lose the game against Peter in the World Championship but I didn't let it affect me too much.
"I understood that it was over for me, and Luke was a fantastic winner - he deserved it.
“I put myself on the practice board after a couple of days and I feel good in my game.”
Back on the oche, Humphries smashed Abdulla Saeed 6-0 in the opening round in Bahrain.
He edged out Nathan Aspinall 6-5 in the quarters, but was stopped by Stephen Bunting in the semis 7-6, despite having been 6-4 up at one stage.
Bunting went on to beat Gerwyn Price 8-4 in the final, winning his second World Series final - over a decade since his first in Sydney back in 2014.
It was his maiden World Series of Darts title.
“What a lovely trophy this is,” he said, rising to a career-high of world number five following his run to last four at Alexandra Palace earlier this month.
