Master Bob throws himself to a title

Newbury athlete retains his British title at Milton Keynes

NEWBURY AC's Bob Broadbridge retained his British Masters Throws Pentathlon title on Sunday in Milton Keynes.

Broadbridge coped best with the poor conditions to win the hammer, shot and discus and after a moderate javelin return, second place in the heavy hammer left him 250 points clear of his nearest rival, Chris Privett of Belgrave Harriers.

Broadbridge now goes on to the British Masters Track and Field Championships in Birmingham in two weeks' time, when he will be defending the shot title he won last year.
