Mixed results for local sides on Boxing Day
Reading FC ended a run of seven straight defeats with a hard earned draw against Swansea at the Madejski Stadium.
Substitute Adam Le Fondre came the closest to breaking the deadlock. The striker had a goal disallowed for handball and another chance cleared off the line by Swansea defender Chico Flores.
The draw follows Reading’s 1-0 defeat away to the Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.
Meanwhile Hungerford Town have enjoyed two wins so far during the festive period.
On Saturday Town beat Bridgwater 2-0 thanks to goals by Scott Rees and Luke Hopper.
This was followed by a 4-1 victory away to North Leigh on Boxing Day, with Rees, Hopper, Mark Draycott and James Clark on the score sheet.
Lambourn Sports also enjoyed a win on Boxing Day. A Matt Pedder hat trick and a goal by Richard Guy secured a 4-1 victory for Lambourn, whose game against Old Woodstock on Saturday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Newbury Town were also due to play on Saturday, but their Reading Senior Cup tie against Woodley Town was also postponed due to a flooded pitch.
Newbury returned to league action on Boxing Day, but they were beaten 2-0 at Monks Lane by Reading-based side Highmoor Ibis.
Thatcham Town also suffered defeat at home to Boxing Day, losing to Fleet Town 4-2.
Tom Mudge and Liam Painter scored the consolation goals for the Kingfishers, whose game against Royston on Saturday was also called off.
