Mpi is hat-trick hero for Thatcham
Charlie Mpi's treble helped Thatcham to their first home league win of 2011 against Bideford on Saturday
A CHARLIE Mpi hat-trick gave Thatcham Town their first home league win of 2011 and put a major dent in Bideford's play-off hopes as Town won 3-0 at Waterside Park in the Zamaratto League's Division One South and West on Saturday.
The recent signing from Maidenhead United got off the mark after 33 minutes when he pounded from close range after a free kick had caused confusion in the visitors' defence.
And he struck again two minutes later, this time after being put through by Scott Rees and Bideford substitute Hockley summed up the panic cased whenever Mpi got the ball by hacking him down before the break to earn a yellow card.
Mpi completed his treble just after the hour when Mario Nurse's cross dropped perfectly for Mpi to head home.
Thatcham had lost 3-0 at Bishops Cleeve on Wednesday night with two of the goals coming from the penalty spot from skipper Richard Mansell with Elliot Kennedy the other marksman.
Town are also due to see action at Paulton Rovers tonight (Monday).
