Rupert's a Knight in Newbury AC colours
Newbury Athletic Club travelled to Wiltshire for round two of the Oxfordshire Cross Country League to take on the tough Cirencester Park course on Sunday.
Josie Robertson starred as she won the under-17 women's race, making a solid start before attacking the course's brutal hills and putting substantial distance between herself and her nearest rival from Abingdon.
Isabel Moore meanwhile maintained her fine form with a fourth placed finish in the same race.
Rupert Knight also impressed as he won an exciting under-11 boys race.
Knight was locked in a four-way battle alongside Newbury AC teammate Alex Rowe and athletes from Banbury and Radley before kicking on over the final hill to clinch a narrow victory.
Knight's teammate Rowe finished an excellent third in his first cross country race of the season while Jude Bennett ensured Newbury had three athletes in the top 10, finishing ninth.
Katya Burgess ran a sterling race to finish fourth in the under-15 girls race and Xavier Lee and Oliver Blatchford were in fine form in the under-13 boys race, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
Newbury's senior men finished in third overall, Matthew Green leading the way with a ninth placed finish.
Green was well supported by Bernie Gerrard, who was second in the V1 category, and Andrew Ind, who was fourth in the V1 race.
The senior women were missing a number of their top athletes but still finished a respectable fifth overall with Sophie Fowler the first home in 19th, followed closely by Rachel Allen and Sophie Bhatt, who was the fastest under-20.
Elsewhere, Mireille Cook was the fastest woman and fifth overall at the Mapledurham trail half-marathon, storming home in 1:39.09.
