Newbury needed a late equaliser to salvage a point with Chinnor in their Hellenic League clash on Saturday

NEWBURY saw lowly Chinnor wipe out a 3-1 deficit before the visitors had to come from behind to snatch a late Hellenic League point from a 4-4 draw.

Although Darren Jones' 10th minute opener was cancelled out by Chinnor namesake Mark, Shaun Thorp restored Newbury advantage and when Darren Jones struck again early in the second period, Newbury appeared to be all but home and dry.

But two goals from Craig Johnson and another from Ryan Davis left Newbury chasing the game and they needed a late equaliser from Thorp to salvage a point.
