Newbury will have two darts players competing in this year’s PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace, when the prestigious tournament begins on December 15.

As well as Luke Humphries, who will be making his fifth consecutive appearance in London later this month, Jason Heaver is set to grace the big stage.

The first round draw was made on Monday and Heaver, who was eliminated by Humphries in the recent Ladbrokes Players Championship last weekend, will come up against Juan Rodriguez of Spain.

If Heaver overcomes his opponent, he will face world number 18 Danny Noppert in the second round.

Meanwhile Humphries goes straight into the second round because of his ranking of 19 and he will face the winner of Rowby-John Rodriguez or Nick Kenny.

The 26-year-old reached the third round of the Players Championship in Minehead, losing 10-9 in a thrilling contest against world number three Jonny Clayton.

Prior to his elimination, Humphries beat Heaver in round one and Ross Smith in round two.

The schedule for the World Championship is due to be announced later this week.
