NEWBURY exited from their sixth cup competition of the season at Faraday Road on Tuesday night when Hellenic League Premier Division Wokingham won through to the semi-finala of the Reading Senior Cup.
Newbury could consider themselves hard done-by after matching their opponents for 84 minutes before falling to two late goals.
The visitors opened the scoring after eight minutes when Luke Lee beat the offside trap to shoot past Jamie Thomas, and Newbury had to wait until just before the break for an equaliser when Dave Livings crossed for Kalief Madden to head home.
After the interval, Barry Elmore was denied by a flying save from goalkeeper Garry Aulsberry before a quick break saw Nick Bateman cross and Matt Jones glanced his header wide of Thomas on the hour.
Newbury were back on terms after 79 minutes when Livings pounced to beat Aulsberry, but Wokingham won it with the late double when Dean Thomas raced in from the right to find the far corner of the net, and substitute Sam Merry converted a disputed penalty.
