Flat season draws to exciting conclusion with racecourse Finale
Newbury Racecourse is preparing to host its Flat Finale on October 22 as another action-packed season comes to its conclusion.
Racegoers can look forward to a seven-race card including the Listed Galloping to Give Stakes, the Class 2 Horris Hill School Handicap Stakes and two Group 3 races.
The day will run alongside Oktoberfest, which returns to the racecourse for the second year running.
Revellers have the chance to sample Bavarian beers, traditional food and oompah music.
It's been an exciting season in which the racecourse has once again played host to the great and the good of the racing world.
There are few greater than the sensational Baaeed, who made it seven wins from seven when he won Newbury's feature Flat race, the Lockinge Stakes, in May.
In July, controversy came to Newbury as the racecourse made national headlines when all 13 entries withdrew from the Stonegate Home Fillies' Novice Stakes over a dispute about prize money.
On the track, there was delight for Upper Lambourn's Archie Watson as Eddie's Boy won the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes despite being drawn in stall 21 of 21.
It was an emotional September as flags flew at half mast and spectators observed two minutes of silence following the death of racing's most revered, respected and recognizable supporter, Queen Elizabeth II.
After a raucous rendition of the national anthem had heralded a new era and hailed a new monarch, David Egan saddled an incredible four-timer that included the feature Mill Reef Stakes aboard Roger Varian's Sakheer.
This time, the racecourse was in the headlines for all the right reasons as Varian's four Newbury winners completed a 34,838/1 across-the-cards seven-timer.
Once the Flat season draws to an end, the racecourse will welcome in the Jumps season on November 3 with its annual Jumps Season Opener, often a chance for fans to see some of racing's future superstars.
