Grinch displaces racing reindeer on the A4

Newbury Road Club's annual Boxing Day fun ride time trial returned last month, marking a spectacular end to the year.

The racing reindeer comprising Andy Tucker and Rick Cornes returned, although the duo lost out on this year's fancy dress to Peter Fuell's Grinch.

There were a number of other great outfits on display, notably Louise Laycock's snowman.

Generally, road bikes were the order of the day but credit to Peter Brooke-Wavell for riding the 10 miles on his Raleigh Chopper.

There were also some decent times considering the time of year. George Westall was fastest with 23 minutes, 59 seconds.

Newbury Road Club’s regular time trial season kicks off on Saturday 18 March 2023, with the first of three Saturday afternoon events.

Races then move to the regular slot of Wednesday evenings. There are also events on some of the bank holiday Mondays.
