Newbury slip to defeat against ten man Kidlington
A LATE rally from Newbury was not enough to prevent them slipping to a narrow defeat against ten-man Kidlington on Saturday.
The visitors had Ben Weedon sent off shortly after half time for head butting Shawn Foster .
However, despite their numerical disadvantage, Kidlington struck the winner eleven minutes from time when Tom Boxer pounced after Newbury failed to clear a corner.
Newbury should have taken the lead in the first five minutes, but Shaw placed his lob over the bar.
Mid table Kidlington, who had beaten Newbury twice this season, struck back and skipper Carl Jenner cleared a Mike Duerden effort off the line.
Newbury 'keeper Ryan Beal then denied visiting captain Tom Castle with a fine stop.
Kidlington then had the ball in the net on 28 minutes but defender Tom Boxer was ruled offside.
After the interval Kidlington upped the pace and a stinging drive from 25 yards by Chas Cassettari rattled the bar with Beal beaten.
However, their persistence paid off and Boxer's late strike ensured the visitors left with all three points.
