Newbury slip up again
Wasted chances punished as Abingdon hit back to extend losing streak
Abingdon Utd Res 3 Newbury 1
NEWBURY'S lean spell continued as lowly Abingdon punished them for a wasteful first half by scoring three times in eight minutes to make it six games without a win for the visitors.
Newbury dominated the first half and created a glut of openings, but took only one of them when skipper Darren Jones struck from 20 yards out after 15 minutes.
But otherwise the chances went begging, the worst finish coming just before the break when Dave Livings somehow missed from a couple of yards out.
And Newbury were ruing those spent opportunities when Fran Medula headed home from a corner with 20 minutes to go, and Kieran Hughes and completed the rapid treble to send Newbury home with nothing and down into tjhird spot in the Hellenic Loegaue's Division One East, albeit with plenty of games in hand.
LAMBOURN SPORTS shared the oints with Penn and Tylers Green at Bockhampton Road, Mett pedder giving them a firts half lead before Jamie Hunt replied for the visitors.
Hungerford Reserves also drew, 2-2 at Finchampstead with Shawn Foster and Chris Blackford their marksmen.
