The Newbury Sunday League makes a return as the new season begins




Brimpton Rangers made a winning start to Division 1 of the Newbury Sunday League after a 3-0 home win over Cold Ash.

The Newbury league was making a return for the new season as teams across the area began their campaigns.

Elsewhere in the division, Berkshire Wanderers moved top after an emphatic 9-1 win over Newbury Bootleggers.

NWX FC got off to a winning start as they beat Black Horse 4-0 away from home, while new side Elm Park Athletic recorded a 3-0 win over The White Hart Barbarians.

In the other league game, Furze Bush Inn cruised to a 4-1 win over AFC Bedwyn.

Meanwhile, in the Premier Division, defending champions Cottage Inn got off to winning ways as they beat Bucklebury 3-2 in a tight game.

AFC Hermitage suffered a heavy defeat in their opening game, losing 5-1 away to Diamond, while Paggies Bar secured a 2-1 win over Woolton Hill Argyle.
