Newbury Sunday League resumes in style as title race continues
The title race continues at pace in Newbury Sunday League, with NWX and Kingsclere continuing to set the standard.
Second place Kingsclere enjoyed a 3-0 win against AFC Aldermaston Sunday 'B' despite a rotated lineup.
Dec Shuttleworth scored two, including a great 1v1 solo goal from the corner flag, while Callum Hutchinson bagged a third.
It could’ve been more, with Seth Fowler and Reece Goater also having clear cut chances.
League leaders NWX kept their rivals at arms length however, as they beat Plough on the Green 7-0.
Charlie Knight scored a remarkable four goals, while Alfie Davis Ellard and Callum Yates got one each.
Plough’s goalkeeper received much credit on a challenging day for his side.
Elsewhere, the league’s newest side Aldbourne Royals hosted The Crickets AFC.
They won 2-1, despite a late penalty shout for the visitors and an Andrew Bullock strike.
Meanwhile, Thatcham Tornadoes drew 1-1 with Frilsham at Douai Abbey, solidifying Tornadoes’ spot in fourth place.
NWX lead, with Kingsclere just three points adrift.
Diamond FC and Tornadoes are battling to be ‘best of the rest’, separated by just a point in third and fourth.
Plough on the Green lead the newcomer teams in fifth, with Frilsham and The Crickets just a point behind.
Aldbourne are already on six points after their four games, meaning AFC Aldermaston sit bottom with just one win so far.
