Newbury swimmers chase title




Newbury Swimming Club is neck-and-neck with Amersham A at the top of the league going into the final leg

NEWBURY Swimming Club will go into the final leg of the Thames Valley Junior League neck-and-neck with Amersham A in the chase for the league title.

While Amersham were winning their second round fixture at Bracknell Leisure Centre on Saturday with eight race wins, Newbury were scoring a massive 26 successes in topping their fixture at Northcroft.

Newbury scored 224 match points on the night, finishing ahead of Chesham with 188, Reading 168, Chalfont Otters 145 and Slough and Eton with 88.

The top two - who have each won their two fixtures – will settle the issue at Reading's Central Pools on Saturday, March 5. Also competing will be the other top six teams, third-in-the-table Chesham, Windsor, Maidenhead Marlins and Reading.
