Newbury Velo Cycling Club announces record growth and major achievements
Newbury Velo Cycling and Triathlon Club has released its annual report for 2024, marking a year of unprecedented growth and significant achievements in promoting inclusive cycling across West Berkshire.
The club achieved prestigious British Cycling Limitless Club status, recognising its commitment to making cycling accessible to all.
This was complemented by successful registration as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), enhancing its ability to serve the local community.
Membership grew to over 280 members, driven partly by the launch of a Triathlon Section and plans for a new Off-Road Section catering to gravel and mountain bike enthusiasts.
The report details what a broad church of cycling activities Newbury Velo offers local cyclists.
The club uniquely caters to all abilities from beginners to experienced cyclists and from under 5’s to over 80’s.
As well as social cycling activity, Club members achieved local, regional, and national/International racing podiums, demonstrating the club's strength in competitive cycling.
"This has been a transformative year for inclusive cycling in West Berkshire," said Club Chair Simon Bowden.
"Our Limitless Club status and CASC registration reflect our commitment to making cycling accessible to everyone in our community, we are very much looking forward to hosting the Newbury Triathlon in September 2025"
