NWN Fantasy Premier League rolls on

With the month of October in the books, it’s time to take another look at the Newbury Weekly News Fantasy Premier League.

Ten weeks of fixtures have now been played, with the latest round of points producing a new leader.

The team simply known as ‘Biscuits’ leads the way, with manager Andy Burton having bagged 164 points in October.

His total of 643 was helped by a very respectable 51 point haul at the weekend, in a week where many of the more reliable players struggled to score points.

This came at the cost of a triple captain chip, however, with the recipient, Mohamed Salah, bringing in 27 points on his own.

Hot on Burton’s tail is Elliot Atkinson, who remains well in the fight following another consistent month.

His side, ‘Come Digne with Mee’, currently sit on a total of 639 points, just four behind the leader.

Coming in at third is Chris Ball with a total of 622.

He scored even more than the league leader last week, with Salah, Gvardiol, Cunha and Robinson all bagging good scores to help Ball to a 53-point haul.

Outscoring both of those last week however, was Jordan Sharpe.

He felt the benefits of having Cole Palmer and Dominic Solanke in his side, who led him to a 61-point haul and fourth in the standings.

Glenn Megarry and Chris Tillett now occupy fifth and sixth place, with neither enjoying a particularly strong month.

In seventh is Newbury Weekly News sports reporter Ollie Haines, who is, of course, excluded from any end of season prize.

Micah Derbyshire’s ‘Wengers Assemble’ sit in eighth, while Lewis Compton, Sam Skillington, Kimberley Ann Tillett and Seb Linturn are in a four-way tie for ninth on 601 points.

The winner of the fantasy league will win a free one-year premium digital subscription to Newburytoday, with the top four all receiving a
Newbury Weekly News mug.

The league is still open to late joiners. Simply use the code fh3652 to get involved, with any points scored so far being carried over.

The league now has 108 members and counting. Best of luck to all our managers over the next month!
