Oscar and Ella Larkin star in Team Kennet success at Destination Cross Country League
Team Kennet juniors turned out in force for round three of the Destination Cross Country League at a new venue in Hartney Witney, taking on a fast and twisting course with some slight inclines and glorious sunshine.
Ella Larkin led from the gun to win the under-nine girls race by 100m and now leads the overall standings ahead of teammate Maisie McCurtin, who delivered another great performance to finish runner-up in Hampshire.
Matilda Saunders was sixth and Orlagh Stratford seventh, wrapping up a win for the A team and making sure of overall team victory for the second year in a row.
There were also excellent runs from Alice Stratford, who came eighth, and Elodie Burdett in 10th, while Gethin Thomas was the fastest under-nine boy, running well to finish 12th overall and three places ahead of Joshua Kuijten who was next home for Kennet in 15th.
The under-11 girls celebrated a fantastic team win.
Quinn Joyce ran her socks off to finish second overall, Harriet Saunders was fifth, Ella McDonald was sixth and Matilda Clare seventh to complete the scoring for the A team, while Penelope Lyth led the second team home in eighth.
Oscar Larkin was the fastest under-11 boy in third, ahead of Euan Jones in sixth and Harry Smith in 13th while Liam Neil marked his Kennet debut with an impressive 16th.
That meant the under-11 boys team managed an excellent third placed finish overall.
Amber Stiles and Charlotte Bailey ran fantastic races for the under-13 girls, challenging at the front and leading for much of the race before finishing second and third respectively to help the team to an event win.
That strong showing made sure of the overall title for the under-13 girls.
Meanwhile, Aaron Carter was Kennet's fastest under-13 boy in 13th while in the under-15 boys race, Ethan Kuijten was third, Max Adams fourth and Elliot Murphy fifth as the team finished second overall.
