Thatcham team's victory in Newbury Sunday League Knockout Cup
Paggies Bar claim decisive win over NWX at Lambourn FC.
Ross Lawrence's hat-trick inspired Paggies Bar to victory in the final of the Newbury Sunday League's Knockout Cup at Lambourn FC.
Premier Division champions Paggies packed too much punch for NWX, winners of Division 1, as they cruised to a 7-1 victory on Sunday.
And it completed a league and cup treble for Paggies.
Manager Willie Goodhall said: "I wanted to win the league this year and get to a cup final.
"I think we have got the best team in the league and we also had a bit of luck along the way.
"We also reached the final of the Berks and Bucks Cup, but I think that came a year too early – expectations are high and I want that one next year.
"It's been a really great season and the lads have been superb."
NWX started brightly, but once Paggies got into their stride there was no stopping them.
Aaron Voller fired them in front from a corner, then Lawrence and Terry Patton put them 3-0 up at the break.
Second-half goals from Lawrence (2), Brad Pagliaroli and Danny Langford sealed the deal before NWX pulled one back late on.
Although it was a disappointing end to the season, it has been a tremendous debut campaign for NWX who, along with winning Division 1 with an unbeaten record, also lifted the Vic French Cup.
