Charlotte Payne co-captains British team at U20 European Championships in Estonia

Newbury athlete Charlotte Payne is one of the co-captains for the British team that are competing in the European Athletics U20 Championships.

The event in Tallinn, Estonia, started on Thursday (yesterday) and will conclude on Sunday, with Payne in action in the women’s hammer.

She secured her place in the final of the event after a third-place finish in her heats, which took place earlier this morning, with a throw of 62.94m.

Payne, who finished seventh in the hammer at the U20 Championships in 2019, sits second on the U20 UK all-time list with her best of 64.09m after a throw in Milton Keynes earlier this month.

It comes just a few weeks after winning the under-23 & under-20 Championships, with a throw of 60.92m, while she also won bronze in the Loughborough International in June.

Payne, along with Dominic Ogbechie, is leading the British team in Estonia.
