Phoenix on the rise as new season begins
Phoenix Lacrosse Club have had an exciting start to the new season.
Warming up for the new campaign, Phoenix finished seventh out of 24 teams at the Bath 8s pre-season tournament, with all matches being streamed live.
Then, with the club bolstered by the release of the team’s St Bart’s School players, Phoenix achieved an impressive runners-up finish at the Berkshire Schools Championship.
The club, which has been going from strength-to-strength since its foundation, were also runners-up in the Under-19B Championship at the South West Schools Championship.
Meanwhile, following on from the club’s successful outreach last spring and summer, the club have commenced training at Park House School on Tuesday evenings. Phoenix are also continuing to run their regular sessions on Wednesday evenings and Saturday daytimes at St Bart’s Schools.
“Phoenix continues to grow lacrosse in the community and local schools,” club chair, Alan Moon, said.
“It’s an exciting time as lacrosse is one of the fastest growing global sports and is under consideration by the Olympic committee for Los Angeles 2028.
“Our club is keen to solidify the women’s section this year and we’re looking for people to come along and help support the club – even if their playing days are over.”
The club is continuing to work hard to engage with the community, develop their teams and attract new players. Phoenix welcomes players of all abilities. For more information, visit the website or email member@phoenixlax.co.uk.
