Weymouth open another testing 48 hours for Hungerford

HUNGERFORD Town face another Saturday-Monday double as they face two of the teams desperately needing a win to maintain their Evo Stik League Southern promotion hopes.

Weymouth and Leamington were among the pre-season favourites, but have gone through spells of incosistency that have seen them dip in and out of the play-off spots.

But on paper, both teams remain powerful oufits with two potentially prolific scorers in their ranks with Stewart Yetton at Weymouth and Ben Mackey at Leamington.

“It’s another massive 48 hours and these are coming thick and fast,” said Hungerford manager Bobby Wilkinson.

Hungerford lost 2-1 at Weymouth in September and, said Wilkinson: “We went there on a good run of form and when we lost, they went to the top of the league that week.

“But we’ve done the hard work to get ourselves back above them, and we’ve got to be pleased with that.”

Weymouth’s recent form has seen them lost to rivals Hitchin and Poole and also improving strugglers Bedworth, but they have former Bristol City and Stoke City midfielder George Rigg back in their ranks this weekend, when Hungerford will be without suspended defender Gary Horgan.
