There are just six Flat meetings of the season remaining at Newbury this campaign and the next one arrives at the track on Thursday evening.
Racing gets underway at 4.15pm with a Nursery contest in class five before the action comes to a close at 7.30pm with a one mile and two furlong handicap for three-year-old’s.

The opening contest on the card (4.15) sees a field of nine two-year-old’s take to the turf for the seven furlong nursery in class five. Geo remains capable of better having been a trailed home in midfield at Windsor last time out judging by her previous form, hitting the frame in two prior starts before that for trainer Eve Johnson Houghton so is taken to perform much better here being sent handicapping for the first time, Of her rivals, Sabrimento was another who didn’t perform to previous standards art Epsom last time out and can go better at Newbury.
Race two on the card (4.45) is a division one maiden fillies stakes in class four, once again showcasing the up and coming two-year-old’s and it looks a belter. Maissara stands out massively on debut thanks to her pedigree as a filly by superstar sire Frankel and a hefty 425,000 Guineas price tag for trainer Roger Varian so has to be considered. Another debutante, Sky Majesty, makes plenty of appeal on paper bought for 150,000 Guineas as a yearling and a half sister to several winners, including over this trip and further and is in the very capable hands of trainer William Haggas.
Division two of the same discipline marks race three on the Thursday card (5.20) and recent Ascot third Saariselka wasn’t knocked around that day and can go a couple of spots better here to get her first win. One to note on debut in this contest is the Haggas-trained Blue Secret, a 150,000 Guineas yearling who holds a Group 2 entry in the Rockfel Stakes next month at Newmarket.
Plenty are in with a chance in race four of the evening (5.55) as a big field of 17 take on the class four handicap over seven furlongs, with perhaps the best heading the way of Bona Fortuna, who is bidding for a hat-trick following wins at Brighton and Windsor over six furlongs so is stepping up in trip here and has a 3lb penalty to shoulder but can make light work of that judging by previous form.
A field of 14 will tackle the one mile handicap in class four at 6.30, where the Roger Varian-trained Never Better looks the one to beat having struck at Kempton in March and then third in a Southwell handicap when last seen in April. Another three-year-old in Devoirs choice has only been penalised 2lb in the weights after scoring at Redcar last time out so is second choice here.
A small field of four will tackle the penultimate race on the card at 7.00 with Billigee getting the nod for trainer James Ferguson having landed a six-runner handicap at Doncaster last time out, while the final race of the evening (7.30) can go the way of One Cool Dreamer, who is taken to complete a hat-trick having scored at Windsor and Newmarket on his last two outings.
