Randy ready to unveil for in Birmingham

Former champion heads into Mr England contest

FORMER champion Randy Smith is prepared to unveil his new body at Sunday’s Mr England competition.

The one-time Mr Universe challenger and World Championship bronze medalist has been planning his return to competition, and will step onto the stage at Birmingham’s Brierley Hill Civic Hall to contest with competitors half of his age.

The ex-champion is now 55, but he has been preparing for the return to competition with a three year plan to return to the top of the body building arena.

The Woolton Hill lifestyle expert will compete in his height class with his first aim to gauge the state of the competition.

“Training has been very, very hard,” he said, “leaving at 6am to train in Thatcham and also in Swindon and return to cooking and looking after the family.

“My muscular weight feels very good and come the day, I’ll be ready more than ever.”

Returning to front-line completion at such an age poses some difficulties: “As you get more mature,” he said, “the body changes and things start ‘hanging off! The bro’s dangling!

“It’s just fixing what you’ve got now to compete with the other guys.”

Smith is being backed on his three-year quest by sponsors Crazy Bulk, and this is just the start.

“I’m happy and there’s nothing more I can do, given the circumstances.

“I don’t what to expect, so I’m going to go in an see what’s going on and who’s there and who’s not and take it from there.

“But training has been good, and I feel that on the day everything will come together.”
