Robinson ready for derby date
And Newbury manager Danny Robinson is desperate to get the win that will lift his side out of the Hellenic Premier Division relegation zone.
He said: “It’s been a long time since the two teams met, so hopefully there will be a good crowd and both teams can put on a good display of local football.
“There is definitely an edge to a derby game, so we have to make sure that we are ready.”
Despite his side’s lowly position, Robinson is confident that they can claim local bragging rights.
He said: “We have had a nightmare time with injuries recently, but, fingers crossed, we will be at full strength for this.
“We have had the top four in our last four games, but when we have played teams around us this season we have always got something out of the game.”
Robinson added: “I have so much respect for Thatcham – they are a terrific club and they will be up for it as much as we are.
“Whoever is prepared to go that extra mile or put in that extra effort will come out on top and hopefully that will be us.”
Thatcham go into the game with three wins from their five games.
