Here’s to you, Danny Robinson as boss announces he’ll be at the helm next season
Danny Robinson has announced he will continue as manager of Hungerford Town next season.
There was some speculation surrounding the future of much-loved boss Robinson following the Crusaders relegation from the National League South but he delighted supporters by putting pen to paper on a new deal this week.
Robinson, who will take charge of his fifth season at the Hungerford helm, said the loyalty the club had shown him despite relegation to the Southern Premier League was a big factor behind his decision to stay.
The direction of the club has been uncertain since husband and wife leadership duo Patrick and Nicky Chambers announced their decision to step down, but Robinson suggested there is now an exciting plan in place for the future.
“I feel indebted to the football club,” he said.
“The club could’ve sacked me last season and I’d have had no complaints.
“They’ve stuck by me, so what type of a man would I be if I was to walk away?
“The big thing for me is that the club trusts me.
“I had a really good meeting on Friday night with some of the people that are going to be taking Hungerford Town forward.
“There’s going to be some local people involved with the club and the future looks really bright.
“The new training facility is going to be finished in October.
“It’s a wonderful football club, it’s a great place to be.
“When I sat down and talked about it with my family, I realised I’d find it very hard to walk away.
“I want to try and put things right next season.
“I’m sticking with the club that’s stuck by me.”
