Robinson's Crusaders 'will be ready' for new season next month
Hungerford Town boss Danny Robinson is confident his side "will be ready" when the National League South season begins at home to Concord Rangers on Saturday, August 6.
Hungerford beat Leatherhead 3-2 on Tuesday evening and will wrap up pre-season with a trip to Eastleigh's Silverlake Stadium.
Former Hartlepool United man Niko Muir scored twice and there was a first Crusaders goal for Leighton Thomas, who signed from Paulton Rovers in the summer.
"We've still got a way to go, we're still a little bit off," said Robinson.
"We've still got to work on a fair few things but I know we'll be ready for the sixth, that's how I feel.
"It's about the players believing in themselves and trusting what we're trying to do, that'll come from winning football matches.
"We've got great togetherness in the squad, that's what's impressed me most.
"I'm going to have a few selection headaches and a few sleepless nights."
Other than long-term absentee Matt Partridge, Robinson is hoping he'll have a fully fit squad to choose from when the Crusaders welcome Concord to Bulpit Lane.
Matt Hall missed the game against Maidenhead having picked up a knock in the warm up and second half substitute Chris Flood limped off, but Robinson isn't concerned.
"Our fitness levels have been brilliant, I think we are where we need to be.
"Matt Hall had a knock on his ankle, but it's nothing too serious and Chris Flood hopefully isn't too bad."
