Newbury trio impress during West Berkshire Schools' Cross Country Championships

A number of Trinity School pupils put in some promising performances at the during the West Berkshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships last week.

Ollie Lloyd impressed in the under-15 category, finishing in first place in a field of around 60 competitors.

Lloyd executed a perfect race which ended in a sprint finish to see him cross the line first.

Zach Muir also executed a near perfect race, finishing 3rd in the under-13 boys’ category, which also consisted of around 60 runners.

This was Muir’s first time participating in cross country, so is even more of an achievement.

Another standout performance for Trinity was from Matthew Carter who came 12th in the Under-17 category, racing against students a year above his age.

This puts Carter in a great position to really exceed and look to win the competition next year.

Some Newbury AC members were also in action during the cross country championships and delievered some impressive results.

Both Ffion Pritchard and Henry Wilson won their respective under-13 races, while Katya Burgess finished second in the under-15 event and Georgia Knight came ninth.

Jacob Glendening and Ethan Robertson, both in the under-15 boy’s race, finished third and fifth respectively.

Isabel Moore won the under-17s race, Miriam Cooper was third and Aston Howse was the fourth boy home in the under-17s race.

U19s athlete Sophie Bhatt won the combined U17/19 girls race.
