Semi-final exit for Humphries in positive Copenhagen display
Newbury’s Luke Humphries kept up his good form as he reached the semi-finals of the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen.
The World Champion dispatched Benjamin Drue Reus in the first round, before defeating Johan Engstrom in the quarters, who himself had knocked out reigning champion Peter Wright.
Humphries would lose out to Rob Cross in his semi-final, with the former going on to lose to Gerwyn Price in the final on Sunday night.
Humphries, who celebrated his engagement to partner Kayley in New York last month, was pleased with his performance and how he handled a tricky crowd.
“I was a bit sceptical, but that was a decent performance”, he said.
“Since the Premier League final I haven’t had much time to practise and I didn’t really perform the way I wanted to in New York, but I felt good tonight.
“It was an amazing crowd. I expected a hostile atmosphere but after the experience I’ve had over the last few months, I’m used to that now, and I don’t let it affect me like I did at the start of the year.”
Humphries will return to action this weekend at the Poland Darts Masters in Gliwice, looking to keep up his good form and fight for another title on the World Series of Darts.
