Shorey returns to the Madejski Stadium

The left back, who played 286 times for the royals in a seven year spell from 2001 to 2008, and was voted by fans as the best left back in the club's history, has signed a one-year deal with the additoanl option of a second season.
The Essex-born defender, who has spent the last six years in the Barclays Premier League with more than 150 top flight appearances under his belt, is back in training with the Royals at Hogwood Park.
He will take squad number 3.
Chairman Sir John Madejski said, "I would like to welcome Nicky back to Reading Football Club, he was an outstanding player here once before and we are looking forward to him triumphing even more this time around.
"I know the manager was very keen to have Nicky back, that makes a huge difference and so good luck to him once again."
Shorey, 31 last February, came to Reading from Leyton Orient in 2001 when Brian McDermott was Chief Scout to Alan Pardew, and went on to become a full England international during his time at Madejski Stadium, playing in England's very first game at the new Wembley against Brazil. 'Shorey for England' had become a regular cry from our supporters.
He is one of only a handful of players to have won two promotions with Reading, and when he moved to Aston Villa in 2008, only Graeme Murty had played more games for Reading at Madejski Stadium.
Shorey could now make his second debut for the club in our first pre-season friendly of the summer away to AFC Wimbledon this coming weekend.
