Hungerford Town announced the departure of young striker Sol Wanjau-Smith to Maidstone on Monday.

Wanjau-Smith joined the Crusaders from Southern League South Division 1 side Slimbridge and won young player of year in his second season at Bulpit Lane – the 23-year-old scored six goals in 34 appearances.

He’s comfortable on either wing or as a central striker.

Danny Robinson last week conceded he faced a “long and hard fight” to keep hold of Wanjau-Smith and top scorer Ryan Seager.

On Twitter, Wanjau-Smith said “I would like to thank Danny, Darts and the rest of the management team for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play at this level.

“I have loved my time at this club.”
