Strudley switches between neighbours
Strudley, who spent eight season at Thatcham after joining the club from Wallingford, was often rated as the best goalkeeper in the division and Hungerford manager Bobby Wilkinson hopes that he will solve what became a problem position for his side last term when he had to use no fewer than six goalkeepers over the season.
“He is the best goalkeeper in this league,” he said, “and probably in the league above as well.
“It is a massive signing for us and a major part of what we are planning.”
Wilkinson is also holding talks with a midfielder and a forward to strengthen a squad has seen only one firm departure with Nicholas Ogbanufe moving to the London area.
Meanwhile, new Thatcham manager Neville Roach has tied Tom Melledew, Gianluca Riccio, Will Bratt and Tom Browne to the club as he bids to retain a number of last season’s squad.
He is also keen to bring in some of his former charges at Hartley Wintney Town with forwards Jack Coventry and Josh Daniels the first to make the move with others likely to follow
