Falkland win again as Lottie Aird fires 170 runs off 102 balls during historic innings
Falkland Women made it three wins from three in Division 2 South & West of the Home Counties League after beating Cookham Dean by 201 runs, with thanks from Lottie Aird who scored 170 runs.
With their regular openers missing Falkland started shakily at 21-3.
Then stand in skipper Lottie Aird, not only took control of the situation but, began to mount a counter attacking batting display that saw her race to her first ever and the clubs first ever 100 from the women’s team.
She continued to destroy the Cookham Dean attack and finished with an unbeaten 170 off 102 balls.
Sophie Armstrong Wood (38) offered support to give Falkland a phenomenal final score of 269-5.
After a hot 30 overs in the field, Cookham Dean failed to offer much in response as the Falkland bowlers all took wickets with Izzy Storrar and Kira Engall taking two each bowling out their opponents for 68 and winning by over 200 runs.
That win puts Falkland top of the league, but with stronger opponents to come over the next two weeks the squad will be looking forward to the next challenge.
