Swimmers celebrate a successful year





There were awards for all age groups across all squads for performance and endeavour.
The aggregate Sprint awards were awarded to swimmers in age group bands based on the 50m club sprints meet in July.
Winners of their age groups were: Ellie Cowan, Ajai Gill, Millie Pope, Jack Tucker, Zara Ryan, James McFadzen, Louise McFadzen, Harry Willingale and Jake Jezzard.
The 100m awards were awarded to the swimmer winning their age group bandings in the 2012 club championships held over the autumn period.
Backstroke winners were: Georgia Knight, Molly Dummett, Imogen Jones, Louise McFadzen, Erin Laverton, Jordan Hobbs, Ryan Sitton, Luc Schreiber and Jake Jezzard.
In the Breaststroke winners were: Georgia Knight, Molly Dummett, Fiona Crane, Abigail Wood, Erin Laverton, Jordan Hobbs, Ben Hutchins and Jake Jezzard.
Butterfly trophies were awarded to: Molly Dummett, Millie Pope, Zara Ryan, Suzy Hill, Jordan Hobbs, James McFadzen, Luc Schreiber and Jake Jezzard and the freestyle awards went to: Emma Eastwick-Jones, Molly Dummett, Imogen Jones, Zara Ryan, Suzy Hill, Jordan Hobbs, James McFadzen, Luc Schreiber and Jake Jezzard.
This year’s land training shields went to Bethany Wood for the juniors and Callum Parsons for the seniors.
Winners of this year’s BAGCAT age group awards for overall performance with the most points scored in various strokes and distances over the course of the club championships were: Avani Gill, Molly Dummett, Millie Pope, Fiona Crane, Ajai Gill, Jordan Hobbs, Ryan Sitton, James McFadzen, Will Butcher.
Second positions went to: Ellie Cowan, Ruth Wyatt, Frankie Twyford, Imogen Jones, Warwick Buckland, Sam Garland, Jack Tucker, Matthew Pudney, Callum Parsons.
Third places were awarded to: Lois Ryan, Alice Points, Amy Quesada-Getgood, Louise Barlow, Ellis Dixon, Alexander Tomlinson, Ben Hutchins, Charles Knight.
In the development squads the Cruisers 25m Kerridge Cups went to Emily Wilkes and Ryan Marcham and the Sprinters 50m cups to Millie Mayo and Michael Hanafin.
Moving up to the competitive squads, the 100m Junior cups went to Molly Dummett and Jordan Hobbs, the Intermediate 100m cups to Imogen Jones and Charles Knight, the Senior 100m Jenny Butson Shield to Louise McFadzen and the Open Hungerford Cup to Jake Jezzard.
The distance awards were won by Louise McFadzen for the girls overall 800m event and Jake Jezzard for the boys’ 1500m event.
The Endeavour Cups were awarded to Holly Hutchins, Sam Garland, Imogen Barrett and Joe Seward and the Mayor’s awards for each squad were awarded to: Alessia Ricci (Cruisers), Jenna Seal (Sprinters), Lowri Hill (Challengers), Saskia Spencer (B) and Abigail Wood (A), whilst Dave Milburn rounded off a record-winning year with the Master’s Swimmer of the Year.
Five swimmers had achieved sub-60 swims in 2012, Jake Jezzard, Rory Butcher, Fernando Vicaria and Luc Schreiber in short course freestyle events and Harry Willingale in a long course meet, with Jake also going sub-60 in backstroke at the ASA National Youth Championships.
The most-improved swimmer trophies went to Fiona Crane and Ryan Sitton, and Imogen Jones won the Wilkie Trophy for her fine performances at the County and regional championships.
The final awards of the evening, the coveted Billie Hart Swimmer of the Year trophies went to Zara Ryan and James McFadzen, rounding off a fantastic swimmer year in which they both competed at the ASA National Championships; James reaching a final and Zara also competing in the 2012 Olympic Trials.
