Tadley Calleva back in action as Alex Fragata returns

The last week has been one of little action for Tadley Calleva.

Due to the FA Cup, they had no fixture on Saturday, whilst their Tuesday night game against Corinthian Casuals also had to be rescheduled due to their replay against Knaphill.

It means that when Calleva eventually visit Clanfield 85 in the FA Vase this Saturday, they won’t have played since last Tuesday, an eleven day break.

Joe Lawler’s side will have to brush off any cobwebs if they are to progress in their 3pm kick-off.

Clanfield 85 play in Division One of the Hellenic League and have by their own admission defied the odds to be competing at this level.

They were defeated in the play-offs last season, having finished third in a competitive league and scoring over eighty goals.

They’ve been in great form this year too, smashing Tytherington Rocks FC 5-1 away from home last week, before dispatching a visiting Wellington side 3-0 on Saturday.

Tadley themselves have reason to be optimistic however, having put away Sandhurst Town in their last league fixture.

A brace from Kieran Rodgers and a 71st minute winner from Joe Cummuskey was enough to defeat a handy Sandhurst side at Barlow’s Park.

There was more good news this week, as the club confirmed that popular winger Alex Fragata has resigned with the club for the season.

Fragata has spent time at Hungerford Town, Thatcham Town, Hartley Wintney and Wantage, able to play on either flank and integral to Calleva’s play-off run last season.

He had been expected to move on, but had re-committed to the club to the delight of manager Joe Lawler and the club’s supporters.
