TADLEY CALLEVA will have another home tie in the Third Round of the FA Vase when they take on Newport Isle of Wight on Saturday, December 12 at Barlows Park.
The Wessex League side hold a mid-table slot in the Premier Division and won through to this stage with a 3-1 home win over Abbey Rangers on Saturday.
Danny Dolan’s Wessex League Division One side produced another performance to make club history as they ultimately overpowered Southern Combination League Haywards Heath, sitting out the visitors’ lively start to take a two-goal interval lead.
They went ahead after 31 minutes when James Milford’s corner was headed home at the back post by Scott Kinge, and they struck again before the break when James Tennant took on the defence to fire home past goalkeeper Simon Lehkyj.
With Tadley’s rearguard in solid form, the home side could afford to break and kick off the visitors in the second period when Tennant again went at the defence to leave Lehkyj helpless after 74 minutes.
The final goal was one to savour for players, supporters, offcials and mostly nidfielder Nick Kingston, who took off to send an overhead kick season into the net for a goal of a lifetime, and Tadley’s history.
