Tadley denied a place in cup semis after agonising shootout defeat to Hartley Wintney

Tadley Calleva were denied a place in the Aldershot and District Football League Senior Cup semi-finals after crashing out to Step 4 Hartley Wintney on penalties on Tuesday evening.

Hartley Wintney, who had former Hungerford Town players Reece Wylie and Conor Lynch in their XI, took the lead after 58 minutes when George Wallace curled a shot into the corner from outside the box.

It took Tadley just two minutes to draw level after Hartley goalkeeper Adam Payce stumbled with the ball at his feet, allowing Connor Thorne to steal in and roll the ball into an empty net.

Some heroic goalkeeping from visiting goalkeeper Craig Atkinson prevented the Row from retaking the lead late on as the game went to a shootout.

The home side scored five perfect penalties but Tadley missed their fourth kick, meaning they exited the competition despite a spirited showing in the last eight.

Tadley, who are ninth in the Combined Counties Premier Division South table but have games in hand on all of the sides around them, travel to bottom side Colliers Wood this weekend.
